A great orienteering trail awaits you right here in the vicinity of Suur Muna!
Anne went on the trail and wrote: “Can a beginner do it? She can. You might have to tinker a bit, but nothing too crazy. Should you try it? Like what do you mean? Why don’t you try it? As a bonus – you can eat two pieces of cake afterwards without feeling guilty…”

HAANJA NATURE RESERVE
On the slope of Vällamäe, there is a forest house managed by RMK with a separate sauna. The building was built in 1998 and offers accommodation and recreation opportunities for all nature lovers for a fee. The room is heated by a fireplace and has sleeping mats. There is a campfire site next to the forest house, which visitors to the forest house have the privilege of using.
Haanja Recreation and Sports Centre
The skiing slopes and cross-country skiing tracks in Haanja are suitable for beginners and experienced skiers alike.
The skiing tracks are 1 km, 2 km, 3 km and 5 km long. By the stadium there is also a sledding slope which kids and adults will love. Lit skiing tracks run for 2 km and 3.2 km and are open until 21:00.
Next to the recreation centre is a shooting range for biathlon lovers. The centre also rents skis, has changing facilities and a sauna, and a cafe for those looking to recharge their batteries. Outside of the skiing season the tracks in Haanja are ideal for cycling and hiking.
MOOSKA SMOKE SAUNA
Mooska farm is a typical lifestyle farm in Southern Estonia. The powerful location at the foot of Vällamäe is amidst the beautiful nature and connects harmonically the farm life with the nature and the heritage of our ancestors. We, the Veeroja family, are proud to share our life with our guests and introduce local heritage, the pride of which is our traditional local food and the smoke sauna. The Smoke sauna tradition is inscribed to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
MOTORBIKES MUSEUM
About a kilometer from Suur Munamäe, near the Kaldemäe hostel, there is a motorcycle museum, the oldest exhibit of which is a 200-cubic-liter DKW-200 made in Germany in 1939, and the newest is from 1989. An exciting museum for the whole family!
SUUR MUNAMÄGI
Suur Munamägi, 318 metres from the sea level, is the highest point of the Baltics. The Observation tower on Suur Munamägi provides its visitors with a splendid 50 km range view of the Estonian nature. The current tower, the sixth in line, was constructed in 1939, and reconstructed in 1969. A total of 29.1 metres in height, it was renovated once more in 2005 and an elevator was built into the back of the tower. Interesting facts: A person standing on top of the tower is standing 346.7 metres above the sea level. First tower was built in 1812.The height of Suur Munamägi makes it one of the most important national symbols of Estonia.
Winter is definitely a time when the beautiful dome landscape of Haanjamaa is not only covered in snow but also in a different kind of breath! People come here to admire and absorb winter. Some do it on a hiking trail, some on a sledding hill. There are also ski trails and lakes where you can fish from an ice hole. You can make a bonfire at the forest house and have fun along the smart game trail. Not to mention the wonderful view from the Suur Munamäe tower.

UUE SAALUSE WINERY
We are a small family business in Võru County, between the hills of Haanja and near the beautiful Lake Alajärv. Our organic farm grows sea-buckthorn and grapes on Servamägi Hill (222 meters high). We make berry and fruit wines from our own and other local raw ingredients.
We offer a year-round educational ‘wine tour’, during which we will explore the secrets of wine-making and then, taste three wines with snacks. During the summer season from May to October, we will go on a tour on the berry field. We will also hold a fun quiz on wines. There is a farm shop.

In the middle of a domed landscape, you will see a wonderful landscape that captivates with its pristine nature. Surprising winding roads, rich culture educates, and diverse activity opportunities entertain both friends and family.
Rõuge municipality is located in South Estonia and offers activities all year round.
COMMUNICATION AND LAPTOP MUSEUM
As the name suggests, it is a museum that introduces means of communication and laptops. The Communication and Laptop Museum opened its doors on June 10, 2023. In the communications museum section, there is a switchboard with cords, a telephone exchange from 1969; main distribution frame; telephone sets; payphones + payphone booths; overhead lines; mail baskets; communication instruments. Large Elion-Microlink-EMT-Telia signs and logos that used to be on the buildings. Also over several hundred mobile phones, among them old NMT mobile devices, antennas, and a 13 m cell phone mast. In terms of computers, there are a few desktop computers and twenty laptops.
